SECURITY OFFICER TRAINING · BEAUMONT, TX

Texas Security Guard Training
Level II, III & IV · Beaumont & Southeast Texas

Getting your Texas security license — or keeping it current? Every level is here: Level II non-commissioned, Level III commissioned, Level IV personal protection officer, plus the in-person firearms and defensive tactics work armed officers need. Taught by Capt. Danny Walker, retired Master Peace Officer — 30 years in law enforcement, 12 on SWAT. Serving Beaumont, Port Arthur, Orange, Vidor and all of Southeast Texas.

Which level do you need?

Texas licenses private security officers by level, and employers hire by level. Here's the plain-English version — DPS sets the exact requirements, so when in doubt, call and ask.

🛡️

Level II — Non-Commissioned

The unarmed officer course. Required before you work a non-commissioned post — gate houses, retail, patrol without a firearm. Completed entirely online for $59.

🎯

Level III — Commissioned

The armed officer course. Required to carry a firearm on duty. Classroom portion online, then live-fire qualification and defensive tactics in person with us at the range.

🕶️

Level IV — Personal Protection

The personal protection officer endorsement for executive protection and bodyguard work. Builds on a current Level III commission.

Not sure where you land? Call (409) 673-5075 — two minutes with Capt. Walker beats two hours of guessing.

Security training questions

Which security license level do I need — Level II, III, or IV?

You'll see them written both ways — Level 2, 3, 4 and Level II, III, IV — same licenses. In plain terms: Level II is the non-commissioned (unarmed) security officer course. Level III is the commissioned course — required before you work armed. Level IV is the personal protection officer endorsement for executive-protection and bodyguard work, built on top of a current Level III. Texas DPS sets the exact requirements for each license, so if your situation is unusual, call (409) 673-5075 and we'll point you at the right level before you spend a dime.

How much does Texas security guard training cost?

Level II (online) is $59; Level III online classroom is $169; Level IV personal protection is $295; the in-person Level III/IV firearms & defensive tactics class is $175; Level III & IV re-certification is $149. That's the whole price — no processing fees bolted on at checkout. Putting several officers through at once? Call (409) 673-5075 for a group rate.

How long does each course take?

Level II runs 8 hrs; Level III runs 40 hrs online + range; Level IV runs 15 hrs. Online coursework moves at your own pace — start the same day you register. The in-person firearms and defensive tactics session is a single scheduled class day at our range.

Can I take Level II or Level III online?

Yes. The classroom portions of Level II and Level III run online through our training partner — enroll from the class page and work on your own schedule. Level III (armed) officers still complete the firearms qualification and defensive tactics in person with us at the range. Level II has no range portion.

Am I eligible for a Texas security officer license?

Private security licensing runs through the Texas Department of Public Safety and includes a state background check. Some criminal history can disqualify an applicant, and the rules have specifics we won't guess at here. If anything in your record gives you pause, call (409) 673-5075 before you pay for a course — Capt. Walker will give you a straight answer on whether it's worth applying.

How do renewals and re-certification work?

Commissioned (Level III) and personal protection (Level IV) officers have continuing-education requirements to keep their certification current. Our Security Guard Level III & IV Re-Certification - Online course ($149) covers the classroom requirement; armed officers schedule the in-person firearms qualification and defensive tactics class with us separately. DPS sets the deadlines, so don't guess at your renewal window — call (409) 673-5075 and we'll get you scheduled before it closes.

What should I bring to the in-person firearms & defensive tactics class?

A valid government-issued photo ID. Bring your duty-type handgun and ammunition if you have them, plus eye and ear protection — if you don't, ammo, rental, and eye/ear protection are offered as add-ons when you register. When in doubt, call before class and we'll square away the list.

Do you offer group rates for security companies and agencies?

Yes. We run group classes for security companies and agencies across Southeast Texas and quote them directly — use our agency quote page or call (409) 673-5075. On in-person classes, one checkout can cover the whole crew: add each officer when you register and pay once.

Who teaches the courses?

Capt. Danny Walker — retired Master Peace Officer with 30 years in law enforcement, 12 of them on SWAT, a Texas DPS-certified firearms instructor, and a certified Glock and AR armorer. The in-person firearms and defensive tactics work is taught by Capt. Walker himself; online classroom portions run through our approved training partner.
